Dear all,

how can I simply switch to
1) Round brackets for the citations in the text: .. see Ref. (3).
2) Round brackets in the bibliography (consequantially)
3) year in parenthesis after the authors in the bibliography
I am not aware of a style that does this, and only this. I hope to be able to just modify
plain to achieve this, and only this, issue rather that opening Pandoras box
by introducing a new style.

Regards
Daniel

hi,

well, i guess you have already checked the plain.bst file and found the used stack language rather complicated.

there are a couple documents out there dealing with modifications e.g. btxhak (should be in the doc/bibtex folder already)

a fairly new and easier approach is the biblatex package. this package uses bibtex just for sorting the entries but all style commands are controled by latex macros, changeable directly in your document. just check the ctan server for biblatex.

this could be a fairly straight forward appraoch to solve your problem without learning the bibtex language.

btw, this is a german forum :-)
