\textbf{Oil flow rate} $V_\mathrm{oil}$ --
[\si{\litre\per\hour}]: In view of the fact, that vacuum pump is
oil sealed where the flow rate supplied by the ICE is referred as
the Oil flow rate $V_\mathrm{oil}$.
\textbf{Oil pressure} $O_{p}$ - [\si{\bar}]: The oil pressure
$O_{p}$ - [\si{bar}] is the term used to express the pressure of
the oil at the inlet of the pump.
\textbf{Vacuum pressure} $p_{V}$ - [$Bar$]: In analogy to the
evacuation time the vacuum pressure $p_{V}$ represents the
absolute pressure measured in the evacuated volume at a defined
time~$x$.
\textbf{Reference volume} $V_{R}$ - $[l]$: The reference volume
$V_{R}$ is a measure to establish the total volume to evacuate.
This includes all volume form the measured from the pump inlet,
e.g. the the brake booster chambers such as all hoses.
%\textbf{Effective pumping speed $S_{e}$ [$m^3/h]$}:JB: Warum

\textbf{Effective pumping speed} $S_{e}$ [\si{\cubic\meter\per\hour}]: The
Effective pumping speed $S_\mathrm{eff}$ is a measure to express
the true suction capacity of the pump when a chamber is
evacuated.
The theoretical calculation for a pump-down time of a vacuum
pump is presented in the following equations. Among the number of
factors affecting pump-down time the calculation is only an
approximation to the real pump down time.
To ascertain that the desired vacuum pressure in reference volume
is achieved within
a specified evacuation time, the following equations explain the relations
\begin{align}
p &=-\frac {V_{R}}{S_\mathrm{eff}} \cdot \dv{p}{t}
\label{eq pumpdown1}
\intertext{with $p_{1}=p_\mathrm{amb}$ and $t_{1}=0$, Eq.~\ref{eq pumpdown1} can be written as:}
\ln {\left(\frac{p_{V}}{p_\mathrm{amb}}\right)}&=-\frac{S_\mathrm{eff}}{V_{R}}\cdot t_{Ex}
\label{eq eq pumpdown2}
\intertext{with this the evacuation time can be calculated as:}
%\setlength{\belowdisplayskip}{15pt} \setlength{\belowdisplayshortskip}{15pt}
%\setlength{\abovedisplayskip}{3pt} \setlength{\abovedisplayshortskip}{3pt}
p_{V}\left(t\right)&=\exp{\left(-\frac{S_\mathrm{eff}}{V_{R}}\cdot
t+\ln{\left( p_\mathrm{amb}\right)}\right)}
\label{eq pumpdown3}
\end{align}
\end{document}
